As you all know by now we were 12 when we started Golfaround, the Dirty Dozen, so we thought it would be nice to introduce them to you. We will start by introducing you to:
Marielle Galibois and Suzanne Shutiak
Suzanne and Marielle were registered in Par W when Di met them. They were all beginner golfers and took lessons together so they were two of the people that we included in our small group of golfers in 1997. Suzanne’s daughter, Laura, was a writer for the golf column in The Calgary Herald and because she was happy that her Mom and Aunt had a group to golf and have fun with she wanted to write an article featuring Golfaround. This article spearheaded an influx of people who also wanted to golf and have fun so these gals will always hold a special place in our hearts.
The two sisters sold their individual homes and bought a house together soon after we met them. They started golfing in the evening league but have now moved to enjoy the Day league. Marielle had a wicked drive right from the start and we all called her “mighty mouse” thanks to Joan Holmes. Funnily enough, their sister Margueritte was a member in Edmonton and they called her “slugger” it must run in the family as Suzanne’s daughter Tess who also started her golf passion with Golfaround could always hit a long ball right from the get go and Laura was no slouch either.
Suzanne and Marielle have joined us on a number of trips both in Canada and Internationally. Marielle is always entertaining us as you can see her flexing her muscles here and another time I remember her flashing us with balloons a bodacious set of tattas!!!! Marielle’s unique laugh can be heard wherever she is. I will always remember Suzanne dancing up a storm at Meadow Lake in Montana, what a great time we had, too much fun. I think the funniest thing was when Suzanne was walking along the edge of the pool at Donna’s Pool Party and fell in. Her wine glass remained upright and she didn’t spill a drop a true Golfaround member.
