Some golf courses just take your breath away and you wonder if some day you might be able to play some of them. We have been very fortunate to play a number of golf courses around the world and so many of them were will never be forgotten. We hope that the golf we plan with our trips is a unique experience, it isn’t always about what championship play that has been played there. This is the start of courses with a view that we maybe dream of playing and some of our favorites that we can knock off our bucket lists.
Failte (Welcome) Old Head of Kinsale
When 8 of us visited Ireland in 2015 we visited the Old Head Golf Course and although we couldn’t play it on this trip we vowed we would be back another day to take it on. A beautiful course in southern Ireland just outside of Kinsale offering 9 holes along the cliff tops and all 18 holes have stunning ocean views. With the ever-changing sea breezes you can imagine the trouble we could get into but that is half the fun and the experience. We were very fortunate to have a beautiful day which is not always the case in Ireland, you have to take what you get. We watched helicopters bring players in and out thinking oh the life of the rich and famous. The course is absolutely stunning, the clubhouse looks over the 18th green which offers stunning vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and the Old Head Lighthouse. We were made so welcome by both the staff and the members, but it is the way of the Irish.
