We have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience some very spectacular golf courses on our travels with Golfaround. The Carrington Resort, now known as Peppers Carrington Resort, was a wonderful experience. The Resort is on a 3000 acre Northland estate in the Karikari Peninsula in New Zealand’s pristine and picturesque Northland. There are four spectacular kilometres of secluded white sand coastline, incorporating a Matt Dye designed tournament standard 18 hole golf course, an acclaimed vineyard and winery, a working Black Angus beef stud farm, and 900 acres of restored wetlands on site. It is located in Northland’s Karikari Peninsula. When we played here we were told we would play 9 holes then proceed to the winery for lunch before continuing onto the back nine, how cool is that? There is nothing quite like appreciating a really great wine next to the vineyard it was sourced from. Karikari Estate, whose distinctive wines can be tasted over a platter of regional produce in the Estate’s Café, overlooks Carrington Resort with superb views out to the ocean. We enjoyed our lunch as well as the spectacular views stretching out across intense green hills to the blue, island-dotted waters in the distance.
We consider ourselves so fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience a truly remarkable part of the world.
