Palm Spring 2014

May 28, 2014 by Dianne Hutton

Palm17After a long cold winter it was a bonus to go back to the Desert Princess in Palm Springs for the third annual Spring Training event. The warmth certainly felt good on my body and I did not miss the wind we encountered last year.

We had an additional treat this year as Mydee’s inlaws own a home on this golf course and were not there so offered us the opportunity to have a welcome get-together at their home. We all got to enjoy a relaxing evening of appys and bevies in a lovely environment. One of the gals didn’t arrive until later on the Sunday so unfortunately missed out but she was able to enjoy the Golfaround reception at the course on the Monday.

Each year we get rave reviews about what Troy and Patty do for our golf game and this year we tried to capture the comments so we can share them with the pros. Sonia thought last year’s lessons were great, this year even better and she is already looking forward to 2015. Wendy won’t forget Troy tip “Rump Up” and Mydee showed us the felt marker marks on her hands that Patty did to help her remember the putting grip. Troy also got her swing to go “swoosh”. In Susan’s words we got great tips to take us from where we are to a step up.

Every year the group experiences different activities but this year took the cake!!! Mydee and Pam went over to the golf course restaurant for a bite only to find that Bingo was underway for the area residents so they joined in. Very soon Mydee calls Bingo and trots up to the front only to find out straight lines are not always winners at their games they get far more complicated. I think they thought she was a sand bagger and I am sure they won’t forget her in a hurry.

Some of us enjoyed some wonderful Nine and Dines and no it did not snow!! Ask Pam, Mydee, Sonia how many games they played.
