As many of you know we planned a different approach to our Orientation & Social this year in Calgary. We held the Orientation at the end of April at Cottonwood Golf and Country Club. This was followed up with a session for the very new golfer to help them “not feel naked at the tee or green on the green” Dianne Hutton & Tiffany Gordon shared some great information in a fun and informative way, making them feel more comfortable.
In Edmonton, Jagare Ridge hosted our Orientation/Social for the Edmonton ladies. We learn something new every year about a member or two at these events. This year we learned that we have “slugger” (Marguerite) in Edmonton and a “mighty mouse” (Marielle) in Calgary and guess what they are sisters. It is so rewarding to see the camaraderie develop in the rooms and listen to the “buzz”, everyone is so excited to start a new season especially after the winter we had. You also feel the eagerness of the new golfer that is looking forward to their new journey of learning the game. Everyone is made to feel very welcome right from the start. This was a great opportunity for us to meet the new members and for them to meet us and the people who help with Golfaround. We tell them how Golfaround got it’s start, our philosophy, how we organize and manage league play and lessons and all while enjoying some wine or drink of choice and snacks. Both events were very well attended and both golf clubs did a fabulous job.
