Difficult times do bring out the best in people and it sure is very evident within the Golfaround ranks. I am sure that there are many acts of kindness that we are not aware of as many of us have got groceries for those in quarantine, made phone calls to people who are alone and other acts of kindness. I saw something on Facebook about how well the Kornor’s fridge was stocked, too bad we couldn’t get together for supper! The other night when watching the news there was a piece about Rose-Anne Normandeau, a former Golfaround member, and her cloth protective mask project. Rose-Ann’s 85 year old mother was the first resident of the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre to succumb to COVID 19 and she decided to pay tribute to her by helping to protect others. Julie Weston sewed 79 headbands with buttons for healthcare workers to give their ears a break while continually wearing masks.
Then there is Emily Borelli, a long time Golfaround member who for the past year has been battling cancer. She is now on the road to recovery and has been sewing masks and scrub bags for the nurses, this lady is amazing. These bags are used by the nurses to put their scrubs into at work and then they go right into the washing machine to stop the transference of germs. Great work Emily you are so very thoughtful.
I am sure there are many others who have gone out of their way to help the less fortunate and we say thank you. We also say a huge thank you to all those essential workers who are on the front lines keeping us safe and well supplied, however I do think they should close the liquor stores as it may help to defer the happy hour habit, it gets earlier every day!!!
No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.
