Our Fernie trip, the last for the 2015 season got off to a good start. Nine of us took a chance and left on Thursday so we could play in Blairmore. We woke on Friday morning to sunny skies and went to the golf course and had a great round. At the end of our round it had started to feel like a storm was on the way and just after we hit the road for Fernie the skies opened up and the drive there was less than ideal. Had everyone come to play at Blairmore I am not sure that everyone would have escaped the wrath of Mother Nature, yet again.
We kicked off the weekend with a hospitality in the fireside room at the Park Place Lodge, it was pretty darn cold outside and we all had visions of a few years ago when we got snow in August. As people arrived from Calgary we learned that many had run into sleet and snow on the way down but all but one made it.
We awoke Saturday to a very foggy vista and were fearful that golf would not be but the eternal optimists headed to the course and low and behold by our tee off the fog had lifted and the sun came out. We enjoyed a very pleasant round at around 20 degrees. The banquet followd back at the hotel and we were treated to a beautiful gourmet plated meal a choice of steak, salmon or chicken. All were delicious and the desserts were fantastic.
We had a great nine holes at Sparwood and then we headed back to Calgary, or so I thought. Stay tuned for the awesome SURPRISE that I was so fortunate to be the recipient of……..boy was I.
