Fernie Play and Stay

August 26, 2014 by Dianne Hutton

Fernie7It was great to return to Fernie, it had been a while since we had our Play and Stay there. Even though the staff had changed at the Park Place Lodge the service was just as good as ever. The staff always have a smile on their faces and can’t do enough to ensure you have a wonderful stay. Ask Joan and Mary about their “rock star parking” they thought they were pretty darn special. Our hospitality on Friday evening was great and just about everyone came. The munchies were awesome and of course the company is always good, even if a few of us stayed up too late.

On Saturday we tee’d off at the Fernie Golf Club and the two man teams fought very hard to come in first. We challenged the teams with a mixed bag format which was a big success, not only did it level the playing field but also gave us some good laughs. Coming in numero uno with a 95 was Kami Fehr and Pat Kinnear, wow can that Kami ever hit a long ball!!! in close contention was Florence Lum and Di Hutton and in third place was Sylvia Madder, Fran Connors and Ella Bishop, way to go ladies. Some of the proximeties worth mentioning was Mary Cook who’s “closest to the line was soooo close. Melanie Shelley Had an amazing long putt and wow what a loooong drive Dawn Hodgins. We returned to the Park Place for the banquet and prizes. Our meal was outstanding, both the salmon and the pork, in addition Karen our vegetarian, had a very good stuffed portabello. Dessert was chocolate to die for, very yummy.

We ended out our weekend with a very enjoyable 9 holes at the Spawood Golf Club. The weather was perfect, the company terrific and it was just too much fun, so much in fact that we think it may be a do over for 2015.
