Golfaround’s Best ever Golf Tournament was a huge success thanks to a hard working and creative team (Patti, Tammy, Marlene, Christina) and an awesome bunch of very innovative and fun ladies. The Edmonton gals really got into creating their hats for a Mystery Bus Trip theme so the committee thought they would enjoy designing a Best Ever Tournament Hat. “Go bold, go beautiful, go crazy…have your headwear make a statement about who you are!”
The Broadmoor Golf Club did an excellent job, the staff were flexible and very accommodating, the meal was delicious and the banquet was enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to the people and/or their companies that donated prizes for the event, winning a little something is always fun.
Below I share Mary’s “Tale of Two Tournaments” as it really does speak to what Golfaround is about and I know the Beginner’s that signed up for this event had blast and will sign up for another. Thanks you to Mary, the team and existing Golfaround members for encouraging new comers and making them feel welcome. Oh and Mary’s hat won.
“Just in case you are a beginner that has never played a tournament I thought I’d share! 😆I actually played in a tournament before I ever played a regular game. It was so much fun and an easy way to play it actually spurred me on to take lessons and start playing 9 holes!😎 18 holes may seem daunting but the play is fast, fun and easy . In Best Ball everyone tees off, 3 people pick up their ball and move up to where the furthest ball is. All 4 hit from there and continue like that until you are in the hole! Imagine ..no duffing the ball 5 times to get onto the green😠…no going in and out of the the bushes ….no hitting from underneath a tree!😖 We all have carts which gets us around the course faster than walking, and they come with these little round openings that just happen to hold a can of beer perfectly. Amazing! It was the most fun and relaxed time ever, nothing at all like what I saw on TV😄. There was no pressure to keep up but still challenging enough for the good golfers. Win-win. So…what about the second tournament you say. Well I wasn’t a “hole” lot better at golfing but eagerly signed up because the last one was such fun. I met some new golfers that were quite good and picked up a few tips. One of them was to have a little “aimimg juice”.. 🍺🍷… Then at the end when they gave out the prizes I heard my name. I kept looking around for another Mary until finally I realized they meant me! I won for longest putt to the hole!!🎁 We beginners make some great shots too …just not that often💪. It’s truely great day with golf ‘n giggles, new friends and old, food and prizes, and of course that aiming juice. What could be better🌞!
