Dianne and Kristy Hutton, the owners and operators of Golfaround™, remember only too well what it was like to be a new golfer. This empathy spearheaded the launch of Golfaround™, a unique experience for women who enjoy the game and want to learn and/or improve their game while having fun.
Developed initially to meet the needs of the female golfer in the exploding women’s golf market, this women’s golf program has developed into the best all-round forum for female golfers, meeting the needs of women all year long.
What makes Golfaround unique?
Other than the fact that both Dianne and Kristy have a passion for the game, they have a ton of enthusiasm and are totally committed to helping women learn and get better, and have fun doing it.
Golfaround is for women of any skill level, providing an affordable, non-intimidating supportive and fun environment. The instructional programs, league play and special events are designed to help beginners and seasoned players improve. The women gain support and are challenged as they have new experiences.
Our beginner program provides not only superior instruction by CPGA professionals with low student / teacher ratio, but an opportunity to play and practice with women of similar skill levels in a fun, non-intimidating environment. An active social component augments the experience.
We support the seasoned player with a wide variety of lessons.
We have day, evening and beginner leagues offering non-competitive, supportive fun at a wide variety of Calgary and Edmonton’s finest golf courses.
Creative winter programs, trips and practice sessions keep us on track during the off-season and give us a kick start on the links in the spring.
Golfaround offers so much more today than when it started in 1997. Members can participate in mystery bus trips, weekend get-a-ways and international travel.
They have traveled to far-away places like Thailand, South Africa, New Zealand, Portugal, Vietnam and Argentina. The travel is not just about golf — it is also about experiencing the country and participating in an adventure where you might need a little encouragement. They have enjoyed an African safari and boma, a Portuguese cooking school, sailing on a traditional junk in Ha Long Bay, and jet boating and boogey boarding in New Zealand.
Today they feel proud to be a part of growing the game, of the positive impact they have had in people’s lives, and of the relationships they have developed.
Golfaround’s popularity has increased by leaps and bounds over the past decade. It truly is in a league of its own offering more choices, more variety, and more value.
Networking opportunities are numerous but above all the camaraderie, and the help given to assist the female golfer improve and enjoy the game of golf, transcends everything else.
About the Founders

Early retirement for Dianne and downsizing for Kristy motivated the twosome to take the self-employment plunge. Prior to the launch of Golfaround, they had just started taking up the game of golf so their beginner status helped them understand what it was like as a beginner golfer on the golf course with no knowledge.
